I just returned from a great vacation in California visiting my older daughter, son-in-law, and his family.  Not only was it wonderful to see all of them, but I got to see the sights and eat wonderful food.  It is always a treat when you do not have to cook for yourself!  Santa Barbara is a beautiful area.  There is a beach intended for people with dogs.  You can take your dogs to romp and play.  I had a wonderful time snapping pictures while the dogs ran on the beach.  All the dogs got along with their new dog pals. Once I get home, the pictures give me a way to relive my trip.  I sure love having a digital camera!
