I said I would report on when I first saw sprouts from my winter sowing and that day is here!  Geranium 'Bill Wallis' planted on January 17th has sprouted.  I hope I can get more seeds planted soon.  I have only planted 25 containers so far and like to plant about 100 before the weather turns too warm for winter sowing.  If you grow plants from seeds, keep in mind that many seeds can be saved from year to year and safely planted.  The Bill Wallis seeds were collected in 2008.  In almost all cases, seeds that are no more than 2 years old will grow.  Many exceed that timeframe by several years.
