#18 Grins & Giggles (Poland)
August 19, 2010

You know that all the women on the trip welcomed an opportunity to shop.  One of our stops was in Boleslawiec for a tour of a Polish pottery factory with some shopping to follow.  Here is the really cute sign in front of the business.

Here is a picture of the pottery after it has been painted but before the final processing.  It's amazing how that shade that looks like lavender turns into cobalt blue!

Finally, here are examples of the finished product.  Isn't this teapot with lid cute hanging on the fence?

The amazing thing is that there are several pottery factories in that area of Poland and the one we stopped at is the place that made my coffee cup that I drink from in the morning.  (Not the one shown in the picture but perhaps I should take a picture of my own cup and add it!)  I have had my cup since before the trip and bought it locally here in South Carolina!

I had to restrain myself on pottery shopping.  There was not room in my luggage for any big pieces.  Plus pottery is fragile so I limited myself to some small things that would fit in my tote bag.  It was amazing to see all those shelves filled with beautiful pottery!  With unlimited luggage size and weight I would have really had a good time in there!
