Pictures of Winter Sowing
March 19, 2010

I hope that everyone had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day.  There is no Irish in my ancestry but I have always enjoyed St. Patrick's Day.  I think it has to do with me loving the color green!  I cook corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, carrots, and onions, and make green cupcakes.  It's always fun to celebrate special days.

For some time now I have been talking about my winter sowing and I took some pictures to share.  In the first picture you see most of my winter sowing containers.  There are a few in another area.  At this point I have about 75% germination which is very good.  I think our winter sowing conditions were very good this year and a few more will germinate.  Winter sowers do not expect to get 100% germination.  Below that you will see three close-ups of some of the plants.  The first one is Nasturtium (Out of Africa), then Spinach (Space Hybrid), and then Rudbeckia (Cappuchino).  As you can suspect, I will post more about my plants soon!
