My tomato plants did not produce much this year, but now that it is September I have been picking some Plum Lemon tomatoes. They look so interesting and it is nice to have September tomatoes!
If you are afraid of worms in the garden, you may not enjoy the next picture. Although they did not do much damage this year, I did get some tomato hornworms. A sure sign you have them is when most of the leaves on the stem (or maybe the whole plant) disappear more or less overnight. I have gotten pretty brave about just pulling hornworms off the plant and disposing of them. Sometimes I get some helpers. In the picture below you see a hornworm falling victim to a natural predator - the tiny insect called the braconid wasp. If you see hornworms that look like this, I would leave things alone. Once the wasps hatch, you will have help controlling hornworms in your garden!
