The Goats in Poznan:
Two goats are the symbol of Poznan. What you see in the first picture is the clock tower on the Town Hall. A town hall had stood in this location since about 1550. Many gather at this place because following a traditional bugle call at noon each day, the doors near the top of the clock tower open and out come two metal goats and they butt heads 12 times before going back behind their doors.
Obviously, there is a legend tying goats to the city. The legend says that while preparing a dinner for important guests, the cook burned the food. He attempted to replace the meat with two goats in a nearby meadow. The goats ran away and ran up the town hall tower which entertained all the people and their lives were spared.
Here are some statues of goats - a little more at eye level!
My friend and I probably remember Poznan best because that is where our suticases finally caught up with us. That was a cause for celebration! It is no fun traveling for 3 days with only the little you have packed in a tote bag. However, we both decided that we were not going to allow that to ruin our trip, so we just managed the best that we could until our luggage showed up.
