Yes, I really enjoy winter sowing and it is long past winter here in South Carolina - especially in terms of the temperature. I think we will have a heat index of 105 degree today! Anyway, I still have milk jugs here and there in the yard and little plants that need to be repotted or planted in the ground. Awhile back a bird decided that one of my milk jugs would make a great nesting site. The eggs hatched and now the baby birds are getting quite large. I got these pictures today. Only one bird is peeking out of the nest but there is at least another baby in there.
This one is cropped so it is more of a close up.
Other things that have been going on around here: well, I am always busy with my plants and with this hot weather they need lots of watering. One of these days I am going to get prices on an irrigation system! I have been trying to declutter the house and clean the garage and still have a long way to go, but I did sell some things at the flea market yesterday. It is way too hot for much of anything, so I only lasted until lunch time, but it was still a worthwhile effort. Now that is is so hot, I will be getting back to quilting! It seems like lots of the spring involves getting my plants settled in so they can survive summer.
Our dog was checked by the vet yesterday following her surgery on May 26th and is healing okay. Poor dog to have gone through so many surgeries!
As some of you know, I love to watch the Triple Crown races and yesterday was the Belmont. Although I do not bet on the race (well, other than the time I was in New York watching the race in person), I usually pick a horse that I want to win and I picked the winner yesterday - Drosselmeyer. He was not a favorite and they barely mentioned him in the TV coverate so I was proud of myself for selecting the winner. That probably will not happen again for quite awhile. I do pretty well selecting a horse that will come in first, second, or third, but there are not too many times my pick is the winner.
Stay cool, everyone!
